Mephisto Pheles (メフィスト・フェレス Mefīsuto Fēresu), whose real name is Samael (サマエル Samaeru), is an Exorcist and the second strongest of the Eight Demon Kings; he holds the title The King of Time (時の王 Toki no Ō).^[1] He uses the name Johann Faust V (ヨハン·ファウスト Yohan Fausuto) in public and is the Principal of True Cross Academy. Following the death of Shirō Fujimoto, Mephisto takes it upon himself to enroll Rin in True Cross Academy.

Appearance

Mephisto has dark purple hair and forest green eyes. He is also tall, having a height of 195 cm (6'5").  He is usually seen in an elegant white outfit that consists of a white top hat with pink and purple around the base, purple gloves, a tie that is pink with white dots, a white suit-shirt and undershirt, jester-style pants, and pointed shoes. His appearance prompts Rin to refer to him as The Clown. As the series progresses, he stops wearing the jester pants and pointed shoes, instead wearing white dress pants and black shoes.
In addition, he can transform into a small white dog when he counts down from three in German (up to three in the anime). In this form he is a small, fluffy, Scottish terrier-looking dog with a large pink ribbon around his neck with a silver trinket attached to it, the trinket being the symbol of an Exorcist.

Personality

Shrouded in mystery, one quickly learns of Mephisto's innate ability to act as if he knows more than what he is letting on.  Careful and meticulous, he is like a chess player, always ahead of the game.
He also enjoys chaos, as he stated to himself that he was a hell-raiser, and Assiah to be his playground, though he does not wish to see anyone get killed, claiming that he himself would kill Amaimon if he ever tried to kill any of his students.  He apparently 'Loves' humans.  When Mephisto first meets Amaimon in the series, it is implyed he is conspiring with Satan and is most likely training Rin on his orders.  He likes to make gambles with whoever possible, including Fujimoto, Rin, and the True Cross Order.
He is prone to eccentric moments nestled in between serious moments, making light of a heavy mood and is portrayed as a man with more money than sense, but is very cheap when it comes to spending on others.  Like his brother he loves to eat sweets and he is deeply interested in the Japanese pop culture, proudly stating that he is an otaku.

History

Nothing much is known about Mephisto's history, other than the fact that he was close friends with Shirō, and that he had ties with the Vatican for around 200 years.
In the anime filler, Mephisto claims that he had connections with an artificial life laboratory over 500 years ago, but stopped when the Vatican declared it illegal. He left it to his students, but there is a large gap between then and now.
A more recent development shows that he has been around as early as the Renaissance era, making him more than a thousand years old. He is shown talking with Faust himself about a gamble. Mephisto says that he will grant Faust eternal life, but, the moment the man wishes to die, his soul belongs to Mephisto. Mephisto later said that he eventually won the bet.

Plot

Beginning Arc

He was originally mentioned by Father Fujimoto as being the only contact on the cell phone Rin is given and would be willing to take him in. However, once word had reached the Order about Rin awakening his Demonic nature, Mephisto is dispatched along with other Exorcists to eliminate him; Mephisto appeaers to Rin after Father Fujimoto's funeral. He gave Rin three options, suicide, be killed, or commit murder by killing them to save himself. However, Rin didn't choose any of them. He instead demanded Mephisto allow him to join them to as Rin put it "Kick Satan's ass" to avenge Fujimoto. Surprised, Mephisto laughed at the idea and accepted it, much to the shock and displeasure of the rest of the Exorcists present. He allowed Rin to become an Exorcist.

True Cross Academy Arc

The next day Mephisto came for Rin in a pink limo, almost running him over. He took Rin and Yukio to True Cross Academy and revealed that Rin was also going to attend the school. When Rin finished his tour around the academy, he saw a dog who made Rin follow him. After they got out of the academy, the dog transformed into Mephisto and explained that the principal could not randomly walk around the school. He told Rin that he would accept him in True Cross Academy under one condition and that is to keep his identity as the son of Satan a secret and revealed that he would train as an Exorcist in cram school.

Mephisto then gave Rin a magic key so he could use any door get to his class. Mephisto then transformed into a dog again to accompany Rin on his first day in class. Then Yukio entered the classroom as their teacher and Mephisto explained to Rin about the Mashou (Demon wound), which all Exorcists require in order to see Demons, and stayed in the classroom the entire time to see what would happen between the two brothers when they started arguing. He then stayed around after Rin accidently made Yukio drop a vial of fermented animal blood that drew goblins to the classroom. Much to his amazement, Rin and Yukio worked together to slay the Demons (after the other students had been moved out of the room). He later told Yukio he was a bit "stiff" for teaching his first class. He then muttered to himself that Satan would make a move soon.

Later on, he is seen having a conversation with his brother Amaimon. They were talking about Rin and the rest of their family in Gehenna; Satan had accepted a proposal from Mephisto. He said that he will take care of their youngest brother, Rin. Amaimon then asks when he will return to Gehenna. Mephisto replies that he has a lot of work in Assiah. After Amaimon left, he said that this world was his biggest play toy.

Training Camp Arc

Mephisto appears half way through the arc floating above the forest with Amaimon,

using his transformed umbrella to do so. Amaimon is there to yet again test Rin and talks about how he wants to kill the people below. Mephisto warns him that if he kills any of them he will kill Amaimon, making his brother restrain himself. He watches the battle from above until Rin and Amaimon get out of control and complains about what troublesome little brothers he has; they were causing property damage to his school, which was something Mephisto would not tolerate. He descends to the battle and summons a cookoo clock that he uses to imprison Amaimon. He vanishes the clock and then subdues Rin by sheathing the Kurikara. At this point the new Paladin, Arthur Auguste Angel, arrives and arrests Mephisto and Rin to bring them before the Grogori. Mephisto takes this lightly, changing into a respectible outfit before going with Angel to be tried. In the anime, Rin destroys the clock allowing Amaimon to escape into the forest and Shiemi is responsible for stopping Rin.

Mephisto Trial Arc

Mephisto is brought before the Grigori and accused of betraying the Vatican by lying about the existence of Satan's sons, mainly Rin. As Rin is kept subdued by Arthur Auguste Angel Mephisto gives a speech about how it was done for good and that Rin may become the weapon the True Cross Order needs to switch to the offensive in the war against Satan. He asks the Grigori to take this bet with him. They agree to an extent, Rin must past the Exorcist exam in 6 months or be executed.
In the anime, Rin is imprisoned in a large crystal when Mephisto gives his speech and Amaimon attacks during the trial. Mephisto refuses to help until the Grigori agree to his terms on Rin. Rin in the mean time is revived by the repairs done to the Kurikara and defeats Amaimon, destroying his current body. Amaimon as he is defeated call for his brother, Mephisto, to help but Mephisto stares on impassively.

Filler arc (Anime Only)

Kyoto Arc

Mephisto appears briefly in the start of the arc to tell the Exwires they are going on a real mission. He does not reappear till after the Demon's revival. He shows up to capture Rin as per the orders of the Vatican, who have decided that Rin should be executed after having lost control of his flames again. He provides Shura with cloaks that turn the wearer invisible, implying the students are to save Rin. Rin is rescued from Mephisto's prison by his friends and heads off to battle the Impure King himself and prove to the higher-ups that he should be allowed to live.

Mephisto, apparently having planned this turn of events from the start, prepares to watch the ensuing battle from afar. When Rin kills off the Impure King, Mephisto laughs, saying Rin has become a Blue Exorcist. He later is seen talking with Yaozō and Shura, apologizing for not being there to help, and if Yaozō is called by the Vatican, to not hesitate to telling the truth. When he leaves, Shura attacks Mephisto, holding a blade to his neck, and demanding to know his plans. He then tells Shura to value her life, as it would be a shame if a beautiful woman died so young. Realizing what he is implying, she then leaves.

True Cross Academy Festival arc

After Rin arrives for a dinner at his Mansion, Mephisto reveals that he have been called many things over the years, but his true identity is that of the Demon King of Time, Samael, who is second in command of Gehenna.

Powers & Abilities

He is powerful enough to block any higher ranking Demon from entering into the academy. It is stated when Pheles told Amaimon the King of Earth, to enter into the academy, Amaimon replied that he can't enter into the academy without the "Infinity Key" because of Pheles' barrier. How powerful he is has not been shown yet but he has mentioned that he is an honorary knight, the position two ranks below Paladin. When he sealed Rin's flames into Kōmaken, he only had to snap his fingers.
Transformation: Mephisto possesses the unique and peculiar ability of transforming into a small dog after counting down from three in German, which allows him to escape through small gaps and spaces. He has also shown the ability to transform into a cockroach. An ability he used to spy on a conversation between Yukio and Shura.
Time-Space Manipulation: Mephisto has dominion over time and space, manipulating it in various ways. He was able to transfer his and others' consciousness into other dimensions, such as Gehenna. Also, he has shown to be able to stop time for an unknown period of time allowing him to snatch Rin's sword.
Summoning: Mephisto was able to summon a giant clock to save Amaimon just by counting up to 3 in German, to make the giant clock appear. This could mean that his powers aren't triggered by words or specific phrases, but just his own preference. He was also capable of summoning The Strongest Prison that was used to hold Rin.

Flaming Pentagram: When the Boys' Dorm was attacked by the masked person, Mephisto said that he was going to make the person regret attacking the academy. He waves his umbrella in circles above him and a giant flaming pentacle appears in the air. It creates lightning as it hovers. It, like his other abilities, appears to be activated by him counting to three in German. However, Arthur Angel puts out the symbol with water, so it is unknown what it would have done were it to have been used. (Unnamed)

Izumo Kamiki is a female student at the Exorcism Cram School. Strong-willed, and something of a "tsundere (hot/cold personality)". She comes from a long line of shrine maidens, and was born with Heian Period noblewoman-like eyebrows. Although a top student, she is quite condescending towards her classmates, both in actions and words.

AppearanceEdit

Izumo has dark red eyes and long dark purple hair, which she usually keeps in a twintails or a ponytail hairstyle. Her most notable trait would be her small, oval shaped eyebrows, which is why Rin Okumura calls her by the nickname polkabrows. Her outfit is primarily the school uniform. She has also been called "cute" by a young boy living near the beach.

PersonalityEdit

Izumo maintains a very tsundere attitude most of the time, though it's mostly tsun and less dere. She is very cold and condescending towards those around her except for her friend Paku. She takes advantage of Shiemi, when Shiemi asks to be her friend, by essentially making Shiemi her servant. Paku, distraught that Izumo was taking advantage of an honest person, finally admitted to Izumo that she does not consider Izumo to be a true friend. However, she does occasionally show kindness. She was the first Exwire to accept Rin after learning that he was the son of Satan. She sat next to him on the train to Kyoto when no one else would. In the anime, she encouraged him on his candle training when he was frustrated. She is quite considerate even though she does not appear that way. She easily loses confidence when she sees her friends in distress but has slowly learned to stay calm and composed during battles.

Ryūji Suguro ( 勝呂 竜士 Suguro Ryūji), also called Bon, is an Exwire at the True Cross Academy, where he is Rin's rival and the prodigy in the class. He is the child of the Head Priest of a temple that was destroyed during the Blue Night, and as such vows to defeat Satan.

AppearanceEdit

Ryūji is an adolescent boy with a rough exterior and well as a small goatee on his chin. Ryūji s most distinguishable physical traits are his stern expression giving him a scary, unapproachable appearance and the large blonde streak that runs down his natural short and messy dark brown hair. Ryūji also has multiple piercings in his ears, which combined with his demeanor and hairstyle, make him appear like a typical delinquent. He wears a beige-colored vest that has a pink "V" at the neck of it, with a base brown colored tie that has black and white stripes, which he wears underneath the Academy's jacket.

PersonalityEdit

Though his appearance is rebellious, his personality is the exact opposite of his appearance. He's stern and takes everything seriously or too seriously as Konekomaru stated. His hardworking streak comes from his desire to defeat Satan for turning his temple into a cursed temple in the eyes of the public. He is shown to dislike people who don't work hard and slack off during classes, such as Rin who occasionally slept in class and Ryūji telling him to just get lost because everyone in class was serious about being an Exorcist. He dislikes it when people look down on him, an emotion triggered because of his childhood where people called him the "Child of the Cursed Temple". He is a very strong willed and determined person as shown when he was ready to face the Leaper just to show just how determined he was to become an Exorcist.

However, there is a different side in his personality as well. He constantly gets into fights with Izumo and Rin usually because of their different views. He can be quite immature as shown when he fights with Rin for small reasons such as food. He can be calm and collected and he can be bad tempered and violent in other times. He is said to be so similar to Rin that they don't get along because of it. He has a lot of arguments with his father.
He's a prodigy and entered the same school under the same scholarship as Yukio there is known to be the youngest Exorcist. He is a top student in his class and got 98 out of 100 in one of their earlier tests. He can also seem to memorize things easily as it's shown that he can remember 21 scripts from the bible. He loves teamwork and often lectures Rin on this subject. He apparently cannot tolerate being protected by girls.

Shiemi Moriyama (杜山 しえみ Moriyama Shiemi) is an Exwire at the True Cross Academy and is training to be a Tamer.

Appearance

Shiemi has straight, shoulder length platinum-blonde hair (though her hair is simply blonde in the anime), green eyes, and fair skin. Her hair occasionally curls at the ends, and she is usually seen with a clip or headband in it. In the manga, her hair is much lighter than the anime, appearing almost white at times. In her initial appearance, Shiemi wore brightly colored kimonos with equally colorful kimono coats and traditional Japanese sandals. After joining the Exorcist Cram School, she changes into the school uniform, which consists of black shoes, a short, pink skirt with a black belt, tight white thigh highs, and a white colored shirt. She also wears the female version of the school tie, which is tied with a large bow. Shiemi also has noticeably large breasts despite her figure, which shocked all of the guys when they first saw her in the school uniform as the kimonos she usually wore concealed her figure. 

Personality

When she first appeared, Shiemi was very shy and quiet at school. This is because when she was younger she was awfully shy and sick, so she wasn't able to attend school, which made it hard for her to have friends of her own age. Her love for her late grandmother made her want to never leave her garden. She is also naive - most of her life was spent within the premises of her home, therefore she is rather clueless when it comes to typical adolescent experiences. However, she is incredibly loyal, patient and hardworking; she would do anything for her friends, even if doing so would make feel others uneasy. In one episode, when she aimed of having friends at school, she humbly asked Izumo then, but instead of hanging with her and have fun, her kindness unjustly used that Izumo always asks her to run errands. This did not last long since Rin enlightened her that friendship must not happen that way, respecting one another is more than loving a friend. Her exceptional kindness, immense willpower, and good nature has made her popular within the Exwires.
It is observed that Shiemi first made friends with Yukio, then Rin. In one of the episodes, she determines to herself: "I've got to stop relying on Yuki-chan and Rin all the time. Today, I'll make some friends for sure!" . She is an optimist and never gives up on her friends. She does not take criticism very seriously and always tries to help.

History

When Shiemi was young, her mother was very busy with the Exorcist Supplies Store, so her grandmother took care of her. This nurtured a close relationship between Shiemi and her grandmother. Shiemi helped her grandmother in their garden, and learned how and when to grow each plant. Her grandmother told her about the Amahara Garden, a garden created by god that has all the plants in the world.
When Shiemi was about 13 years old, Shirō Fujimoto brought Yukio Okumura, a recently qualified exorcist, to the shop. Yukio was very nervous despite encouragement from Shiro. Shiemi's mother called her to come meet Yukio and, after saying hello, Shiemi fled because she was shy. Later, as Shiro and Yukio were leaving, Shiemi reappeared and gave Yukio a four leaf clover charm. However, she kept refering to Yukio as "sensei," which he found to be too formal since they were the same age. At that, Shiemi gave him the nickname "Yuki-chan," which made Yukio blush, but he accepted it.
A year or so later, her grandmother needed help covering the grapes, but upon hearing that Shiemi had planned to search for the Garden that day, she told Shiemi to go, but to be back before sunset. When Shiemi came back, she found that her grandmother had attempted to cover the grapes by herself and had been killed. Her guilt drove her to try to take care of the garden by herself, but there were some things she couldn't do on her own. She was approached by a demon that had possessed a flower, and the demon offered its help in exchange for Shiemi to stay in the garden forever.

Plot

True Cross Academy Arc

Shiemi is introduced while gardening in her grandmother's garden. As Rin touched the gate leading into the garden, it broke and fell off its hinges. Seeing this, Shiemi fearfully begins to crawl away from Rin, calling him a Demon and telling him to stay back. Rin, realizing it was a gate meant to ward off Demons, puts it back in place, also telling her that he is not a Demon. He then starts helping her garden after he noticed she wasn't able to walk, where after they introduce themselves to each other. She tells him of her dream to find the Amahara Garden, a legendary garden filled with plants from around the world, that her deceased grandmother had told her about.
After some time, Yukio came, accompanied by Shiemi's mother. Telling Shiemi that Yukio had come to examine her legs, Shiemi then showed him her legs, which were covered in roots. Yukio immediately realized that it was the work of a Demon and asked Shiemi if she had ever talked to a Demon in the garden. While Shiemi was telling him that she would never do such a thing, she suddenly collapses.

When she woke up, she found herself in her grandmother's room, thinking about her grandmother and her death. Shiemi reminds herself that she swore to protect her grandmother's garden. She then went outside to continue gardening. Rin, who was waiting for Yukio and Shiemi's mother to finish talking, told her that trapping herself in the garden was wrong, and that her grandmother would never have wanted that. He then starts to destroy the plants in the garden to find the Demon, while Shiemi, finally beginning to understand that her grandmother wanted her to follow her dreams, watched him. Yukio then appeared, claiming that Shiemi will walk soon after they exorcise the Demon. Angered by this, the plant Demon of the garden, still hidden, told Shiemi that she had betrayed it. It then took over the roots in her legs and molded itself around Shiemi, so that Shiemi acted as a shield. Rin attempted to free Shiemi from the Demon's grasp unsuccessfully, while Yukio struggled to find out a way to separate the two. He then pulled out a gun and shot Shiemi with a harmless bullet (which contained a red weed killer liquid inside, appearing to have injured Shiemi), to which the plant Demon separated from her. Once freed, Rin killed the Demon while Yukio tended to an unconscious Shiemi. After waking, Shiemi stood for the first time in years, and with encouragement, tearfully apologized to her mother for rejecting her.

The next day, Shiemi had decided to enroll in Rin's class. She was introduced as a new student by Yukio. She sat next to Rin and then thanked him for what he did. She also said that one of the reasons she came was to see Yukio as a teacher, while her eyes sparkled.
During lunch, Shiemi tells Rin that she feels like she doesn't belong in the school because she doesn't really want to become an Exorcist. She then asks Rin if he has any friends. Shiemi and Rin's classmates appear and tease Rin about his close relationship with Shiemi, when they ask Rin if she's his friend. He blushes furiously and says no, Shiemi is highly offended by this. She is next seen watching Rin and Suguro battle it out in practical athletics.
Some days later, Shiemi arrives at the academy with a resolution. Today she decides that she will make a friend. She sees Kamiki and Paku in the halls and gathers the courage to talk to them, but ends up embarrassing herself by tripping. She sees Rin in the halls, but decides not to depend on him anymore and continues her pursuit to make friends and become stronger.

In Magic Circle, Art of Sealing class, she learns that she has the potential to become a Tamer and even summons a Greenman spirit familiar. She decides that it's the perfect time to talk to Kamiki since she also summoned a familiar. Kamiki just insults her, but since Shiemi is naive, she takes it as a compliment. Shiemi then names her familiar Nii-chan. When Kamiki leaves the classroom, Shiemi follows after her and asks if she can be her friend. Kamiki says yes, deciding to take advantage of her kindness and make her do things for her like a servant. But, being the person she is, Shiemi doesn't mind. Rin takes notice of this and later tells her to stop it. Shiemi gets offended and runs off with Rin running after her.
Yukio announces a training camp that will be hosted in his and Rin's dormitory since they are the only ones using it. After a written exam, Izumo and Paku go to take a bath and Shiemi tags along. However, Izumo tells Shiemi to wait because she doesn't want Shiemi to see her naked, but she requests some fruit milk for when she gets out of the bath. A little saddened, Shiemi goes to get the milk, but Rin sees her and tells her that Izumo is just using her. Then they hear a scream, and they realize that it is Izumo and Paku. Rin tells Shiemi to go get Yukio while he heads to the bathroom to help them, but Shiemi follows after him. Arriving on the scene, they a ghoul that has burned Paku and rendered her unconscious. Izumo summons her familiars, but because Paku had just told her that she didn't like people who made a fool out of others, Izumo's familiars turn on her because of her weakened heart. Rin tells her to tear the papers and she does so, hence making her familiars disappear. Rin distracts the ghoul, and Shiemi treats Paku's burns with aloe. Rin is loosing against the ghoul and about to pull out his sword when Yukio arrives, alerted by the ruckus. he ghoul disappears, and Yukio thanks Shiemi for saving Paku, making her blush.

Training Camp Arc

During the camp the class attends in the Summer Vacation, Shiemi is attacked by Demon insects, and, after losing her familiar Nii-chan, she loses consciousness after shouting for help. Rin dashes to rescue her, and finds the insects swarming all over Shiemi's body. Seeing her head bleeding and her in an unconscious state, Rin yells out in anger for the bugs to get away from her, accidentally unleashing his blue flames. This was then spotted by Ryūji, who came to check on Shiemi as well, however Rin was able to get out of explaining the flames that Ryūji had seen. When Shiemi awakens, she screams out for Nii-chan, remembering what the moth Demons did, crying while holding Nii-chan's ripped magic circle. But Ryūji assures her that she could use another paper to summon Nii-chan again. When Konekomaru texted both Ryūji and Renzō to help with the Peg Lantern he found, Shiemi accompanies them along with Rin. For the strategy Konekomaru came up with to bring the Peg lantern back to camp, Shiemi's part was being in the wagon feeding the Peg Lantern the moth Demons as fuel. She is later carried by Rin in order to move the Peg Lantern to the other side of the bank. She and her friends are successful in moving the Peg Lantern back to camp and shortly after are attacked by Amaimon.
Later, Shiemi starts to walk out of the protective circle, surprising the others, and Shura sees a parasite in the back of Shiemi's neck. Amaimon appears and takes Shiemi. Rin follows after him, but Amaimon's Behemoth blocks his path. Shura gives Rin the koumaken and holds off the behemoth while Rin goes after Amaimon. Rin catches up with Amaimon and asks what he is planning to do with Shiemi, and Amaimon responds that he will make her his bride. After saying the vows, he prepares to seal them with a kiss but Rin stops him. As it becomes clear that Rin won't use his sword, Amaimon say that he doesn't need Sheimi anymore and prepares to take her eyes for an unnamed cousin. However, Ryuuji, Konekomaru, and Shima arrive and attempt to distract Amaimon to let Rin escape. However, Konekomaru accidentally sets off his firework and it hits Amaimon's hair spike, which makes it poof up like a broccoli, which Shima laughs at. Amaimon takes offense at being laughed at and shove Shima into a tree, knocking him unconscious. He then breaks Konekomaru's arm and takes Ryuuji in a choke hold. Rin, angry about seeing his friends harmed, unsheaths his sword, revealing his identity, and engages in battle with Amaimon who releases Sheimi.
In the anime, Shiemi is responsible for subduing Rin by hugging him and calling his name. She is unafraid of him.

Kyoto Arc

When on the Kyoto mission, Shiemi was still rather confused, not knowing if she could trust Rin after finding out that he was Satan's son. In the inn, she constantly thinks about her own safety.
Later, she, along with the other Exwires, is asked by Shura to break Rin out of prison, giving them all camouflage ponchos, which makes them invisible to others when worn. When the Exwires successfully get past the prison guards and find the Demon prison cell Rin is locked, she is the only one not petrified by the Demon, stating she had no weapons. Then remembering being told by the Demon that it can be opened from the outside without a key, she opens the door and goes inside, in search of Rin. When she finds him, she tells him why she was there and that everyone else had also tried to save him. When she tries to get closer, he yells at her to stay away, saying she could die if his flames go awry, and that he, himself, would be better off dead. Surprised and angered at this, she yells at him to not speak like that and that she wants to help him, to which he lashes back and yells at her to go home and calls himself a monster, his flames bursting. Realizing she never really thought of Rin's feelings, only thinking of herself, she tears up and runs to hug him, consoling him that his flames do not burn her. He backs away, blushing furiously, asking if she's really not scared of him, to which she replies happily that she is not, ending up in their reconciling.

Powers & Abilities

Shiemi when first introduced is quite timid and Demonstrated no fighting abilities. However, she was shown to have exceptional energy reserve when a plant Demon used her as a power supply for a period of time. Kamiki, an undeniably exceptional Tamer herself, was surprised to see how Shiemi developed as a Tamer in a short period of time.
Keen Intellect: She was shown to have vast knowledge on plants particularly in medicinal herbs being the daughter of an owner of an Exorcist supply shop. She doesn't primarily involve herself in direct confrontations but makes up for it by giving aid to her teammates to the best of her ability.

Tamer

When she is first introduced, Shiemi was able to summon an infant Greenman Spirit in an Exorcist Taming lesson. As the ability to summon a Demon is exceptionally rare, Shiemi has great potential. She was also able to immediately control the infant Greenman spirit, which she calls "Nii-chan ", indicating that she has a large amount of discipline and focus.

Shiemi has performed multiple abilities thus far with her Greenman familiar. She can have him generate an Aloe branch that can produce juices that can heal wounds caused by everyday accidents and ones caused by Demons. She can also have him create barriers of wood, tree roots, and flowers to protect herself or her friends - although prolonged use of this ability will drain her stamina quickly. However, this weakening may have been enhanced by the toxic fluids that a Demon had cast on her before she made the barrier, which indicates that she may have greater stamina than seen. In the anime, she has conjured dandelions to carry away her friends when they where in danger and even a fluff for soft landing for Rin .

During the Training Camp arc , Shiemi lost contact with Nii-chan after her magic circle was destroyed. In the latest events, Shiemi was able to summon Nii-chan again by drawing a circle with her blood through determination and will. Her will appears so strong that Nii-chan was able to absorb the grass around him and grow larger at about Shiemi's height.

Herbalism

Shiemi has considerable talent in the field of using medicinal herbs to heal wounds. She is able to accurately recognize different types of illnesses, and uses her greenman familiar to summon specific plants that can heal wounds such as burns and stab wounds.
